A Guide for New Fans of the Tomb Raider Franchise

If you are just coming into the franchise now, just before the exciting release of Tomb Raider: The Legacy of Atlantis, let us start by welcoming you into the very busy world of Tomb Raider. Hello!! The franchise will be celebrating 30 years since the initial release of the very first game back in 1996, and as such, there is so much Tomb Raider content out there that it can actually be a bit overwhelming to know where to begin. We're writing a guide to give you all some pointers and help simplify everything that is out there, and give you a starting point. So let's begin...

The Series Overview
If you are curious to see everything that this franchise has to offer, have a look at our Series Overview page. Almost every entry is clickable and will take you to a page that will provide more information. Due to various soft reboots and full reboots over the years, the main games were divided into 3 eras: The Classic (TR1-TR AOD), the LAU era (containing Tomb Raider: Legend, Anniversary and Underworld) and the Survivor era (Tomb Raider 2013 onwards). The franchise is currently in a unified process, where the developers want to bring all eras of Lara together in some way, to simplify the franchise.

The Unified Timeline
If you want to make things simpler for yourself, start with the Unified Timeline. This is how the franchise will look from now on. This is a fantastic starting point to get into the franchise and there is a range of media for you to explore too.
