Other : FHM Promotion with Tomb Raider
|
Many of us have seen the render of Lara in an Egyptian tomb, pointing a torch at a wall of hieroglyphs, where she comes across a plaque that reads 'FHM'. Sadly we haven't come across any official press release that dates some marketing with FHM but a (careful) browse of their website, we were able to come across a few things. Though it isn't exact, we've used the web archive for dating these events.
In early 1998, Tomb Raider 2 had been promoted on FMV, which apparently presented fans with "Tomb Raider 2 exclusives". All you can see now of this page are 2 old links to further pages and this text:
"Hands up, baby hands up, give me your heart..." Lara leads the new more intelligent human baddies in Tomb Raider II through a rendition of 70s disco smashes. Point your browser here loud and often for more Tomb Raider II exclusives. Lara navigates a labyrinth of passageways running deep into the mountain side under the Great Wall of China in pursuit of the Dagger of Xian. New lighting effects, including real time lighting are just some of the new features in Tomb Raider II. In 1999, when Lara Weller had become the new official live model for Lara Croft, she did a short interview with Rory Buckeridge titled 'Tough Cookie' and photoshoot by Douglas Mott for the magazine, where she also appeared on the cover. Interestingly, the description before the interview says that Lara Weller is "pulling on the rubber top and leather shorts to promote what promises to be Lara Croft's fourth and final outing: Tomb Raider 4, The Last Revelation". Some of the interview is about Lara's time as Croft and the rest is about Weller's preferences regarding men.
