Lara Croft
Lara Croft is a recognisable character, regardless of which era she appears in, and has made quite an impact in the world of entertainment. She has starred in over 12 main series games, has a spin off series of games on various platforms, has starred in three feature films with a fourth in the making, she has been the face of several campaigns as well appeared on the cover of countless magazines. To help with the promotions of the games, there have been 7 live models that have acted out various Lara-like poses and a lot of merchandise too, including comics, clothing and statues.

~ November 1998 - Tomb Raider I and II awarded Millenium product status by The Design Council, award presented by Peter Mandelson.
~ November 29th 1998 - Lord Sainsbury named Lara as an ambassador for Modern scientific excellence. ~ March 30th 2000 - Lara Croft (Lara Weller) was awarded ‘Sunglass Wearer of the Year’ at the 10th Safilo ‘Spectacle and Sunglass Wearer of the Year Awards 2000’. ~ March 16th 2006 - A ‘Walk of Game’ star was unveiled for Lara Croft and Tomb Raider. In attendance was Bill Gardner (CEO of US Publishing for Eidos), Toby Gard and Karima Adebibe. ~ April 2006 - Lara Croft was awarded a Guinness World Record as the ‘Most Successful Human Video Game Heroine’. ~ May 3rd 2006 - Eidos announced that Lara Croft had been chosen to be the spokesmodel for the Skin Cancer Awareness Foundation of Minden, Nevada. ~ October 5th 2006 - Lara Croft (Karima Adebibe) attended the 3rd BAFTA Video Games Award in The Roundhouse, London, accompanied by Ian Livingstone. ‘Tomb Raider: Legend’ was nominated in the categories of ‘Action and Adventure’, ‘Audio’, ‘Screenplay’ and ‘Character’, but won in the category of ‘Original Score’. ~ October 27th 2006 - Lara Croft won the ‘Favourite Character’ Award at the 2006 Golden Joystick Awards held in London, UK. ~ September 14th 2009 - Lara and Tomb Raider made it into the Guinness World Records 2010 with 6 new records: ‘Most Successful Video Game Heroine’, ‘Most Recognisable Female Character in a Video Game’, ‘Most Detailed Video Game Character’, ‘Highest Grossing Computer Game Spin Off’, ‘Most Successful Live-Action Transfer’ and ‘Most Official Real Life Stand-Ins in a Video Game’. ~ July 27th 2010 - 'Lara Croft Way’ was opened in Derby. Lara Croft cosplayer and Angelina Jolie double, Sienna Taylor, was in attendance. ~ October 31st 2016 - Two Guinness World Records were achieved at Paris Games Week. 1) Most Magazine Covers for a Video Game Character’ - totalling approx 1,230 magazine cover. 2) Largest Gathering of People Dressed as Lara Croft’ - totalling 270 people. ~ May 3rd 2018 - The original Tomb Raider game is inducted in to ‘The Strong’s World Video Gamed Hall of Fame’. ~ September 3rd 2019 - A star is unveiled for Lara Croft at Made in Derby’s walk of fame.
