Merchandise
Within any fandom, there is always something to collect, other than the games, etc, and Tomb Raider has a broad range of things, ranging from clothing, statues, books, camping equipment, kitchenware and plenty more.
Unbelievably, there has been Tomb Raider goodies to buy and collect since the first Tomb Raider game - one of the earliest is a beermat that was used in pubs to promote the game. Then in 1997, around the time of release for Tomb Raider 2, a small catalogue of items were released in the USA that sold a thermos, a Swiss Army cavalry watch, caps, a bomber jacket and other several items. Come to Tomb Raider 3, there were merchandising deals being made with Marks and Spencer, and a unique brand called LARA © was being created. It's not only about store items though but also items that were given away at gaming conventions, rare and limited goodies that only a lucky few would obtain. Literally anything that has Lara's name or image, or the logo of Tomb Raider on it has the possibility of being a collectible. Nowadays, fans have the Internet where they can purchase new or old goodies for their collection. |
If you want to learn about the history of individual items, or explore further pictures of them, we have created a blog where you can find over 1000 items. As with anything, put enough time between something and your present day, and information gets lost along the way. This blog is a helpful way to find dates (eg, for the M&S items), reasons why something existed (eg, a large AOD sticker that was put in gym shower rooms) and also other things in a particular collection. There is a handy 'SORT BY' page where you can search for game/movie/comics/year/misc tags or by collector.
