Tidbits

  1. In early 2015, images came to surface of a game called ‘The Adventures of Lara Croft’. Its concept was a co-op game set in Egypt. The location eventually changed to South America and it became what is now ‘Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light’.
  2. The Guardian of Light was available to play on iOS on 11th December 2014. It featured cloud saving, high resolution textures and high resolution UI. However this version does not include four of the latter levels (Fiery Depths, Belly of the Beast, Stronghold Passage & the Mirror's Wake).
  3. The game has 14 levels to complete and 60 collectibles to find.
  4. Lara Croft’s in game model contains 11,226 polygons.
  5. The game was almost called ‘Raiders’ and it would have featured Lara Croft’s doppelgangers.
  6. Guardian of Light features a lot of reused assets such as TRL, TRA and TRU soundtrack, TRU’s Lara model and textures.
  7. The development came up with the idea to set this game in New Orleans but was eventually changed to Central America as it meant that they could reuse previous game assets.
  8. The development team for GOL was split in choosing the style of this game; half wanted a side scroller game whilst the other half wanted a top down game. They split into two teams and created a prototype of each game and the top down view was picked.
