Enemies

Picture
Bat
Bats are the first enemy that you encounter in the game and are one of the easiest to defeat. However, if you chose to try and ignore them, they will keep nipping away at Lara's health, so maybe it is best to just shoot them so that they don't prevent Lara holding onto ledges.

FIRST APPEARANCE: Mountain Caves
Picture
Wolf
These are the first enemy that are introduced in Tomb Raider, seen in the cutscene where Lara opens the large doors to the entrance of the Tomb of Qualopec. They are quick and often hunt in packs. The pistols are effective enough against them.

FIRST APPEARANCE: Mountain Caves

Bear
When the bear is first seen, it may take you by surprise. The Adrenaline Dodge is introduced to you on this encounter and generally, it is a helpful skill to learn for dealing with most enemies.

FIRST APPEARANCE: City of Vilcabamba
Picture
Velociraptor
These guys are the first of the prehistoric enemies - those who have played the game before will know what is next. The velociraptors are quick and will claw at Lara if they get too close. The Adrenaline Dodge will make a long battle with them quicker.

FIRST APPEARANCE: The Lost Valley
Picture
T-Rex
Fans who have played the first Tomb Raider game will notice a big change with this part of the game. It is the boss fight that you don't technically get to do. Killing him is achieved by increasing his rage meter in order to use Adrenaline Dodges, which will make him stumble into conveniently placed traps. Then when it has one last ditched attempt to attack Lara, Quick Time Events will have Lara shooting its eye.

FIRST APPEARANCE: The Lost Valley
Picture
Lion
The first enemy you'll encounter in Greece. Much like the wolves in regards to movement and attack. If you want to reserve your ammo, the pistols are good enough against them.

FIRST APPEARANCE: St Francis Folly
Picture
Gorilla
These gorillas are more terrifying than the ones in Tomb Raider 1 are they are much larger. They still beat their chests and are best dealt with using the Adrenaline Dodge.

FIRST APPEARANCE: The Coliseum
Picture
Crocodile
Seen both in and out of water, they can snap hold of Lara's leg until she manages to kick them off. Whilst they are in water, you will get a chance to pick them off on land. Also, Lara has no underwater weapons so this really is the only way to kill them.

FIRST APPEARANCE: Midas' Palace
Picture
Panther
A single panther can be taken care of with any weapon you choose but a group of panthers can be lethal. Lara will need heavy firepower to survive an encounter with them.

FIRST APPEARANCE: Temple of Khamoon
Picture
Cat Mummy
These are Egypt's version of the Atlanteans that Lara will later encounter. Qualopec has two of these guarding him and his piece of the Scion in his tomb but you don't start fighting them until the Egypt levels. They are fast and vicious, and use their sharp claws to swipe at their enemies. It is useful to use the Adrenaline Dodge on them (and really on most enemies from Egypt onwards) as it is quicker than just shooting them to death.

FIRST APPEARANCE: Temple of Khamoon
Picture
Atlantean Centaur
A visually terrifying enemy as it towers over Lara. A centaur is quick on their feet but with a wide turning circle. It will kick using its hind legs and swipe with its arms. Tumble side to side to avoid their attacks, all whilst building up their rage for a well timed Adrenaline Dodge.

FIRST APPEARANCE: Tomb of Tihocan
Picture
Flying Atlantean
These nasty guys often appear in a place where the walkway is narrow and is very high off the ground. They their fire attacks can push Lara off the edge and to her death - this is most truthful in the tall chamber in The Great Pyramid. If they are close enough, they will grab onto Lara too and you have to press some buttons fast to help Lara to push them off. The Dual Mini SMGs are great against them but pistols will do too.

FIRST APPEARANCE: Sanctuary of the Scion
Picture
Crawling Atlantean
These enemies are very quick and very mean, much like the cat mummy. They scratch at enemies with their claws. Use whatever weapon you feel safest in using.

FIRST APPEARANCE: Sanctuary of the Scion
Picture
Torso Boss
This boss is trickier than its Tomb Raider 1 counterpart; the trick here is to use the Adrenaline Dodge and shoot his fingers off so that he can not hold onto the edge of the platform, and thus, fall into the lava below. Recommended weapon: the Dual Mini SMGs.

FIRST APPEARANCE: The Great Pyramid
