Allies:
Varvara
Seen in issues #9 and #10. She was the mother of Lucya, Viktor, Pavel and Kirill. After fighting Mr Cruz, Viktor and Kirill took Lara back to their home, where Varvara stitched up the wound on her arm. Her husband was killed in the Chernobyl Disaster. Soldiers arrived to evacuate everyone out of the town with the promise that they would be able to return, but she knew that they wouldn't be able to go back home, so she and her family stayed. The government then paid her boys to work on the reactor, to patch up the cracks and to keep it safe. In return, they got medicines. In 2014, a helicopter flew in by the house, with Mr Cruz onboard. Varvara told them all they must fight as he had killed Lucya, her daughter. He told the pilot to fire a rocket at them, destroying most of the house. Viktor died and Kirill was fatally injured. Varvara continued to hold off the soldiers, and when Lara took the helicopter down, Varvara told Kaz that she must leave for her own safety. |
Pavel
Seen in issues #7, #8 and #9. He is one of the three men in radiation suits who was watching Lara Croft from the rooftop in Pripyat. The other two are Viktor and Kirill, his brothers. He was coughing blood, from radiation poisoning. When Lara is on neutral ground with Kaz Weiss and the three men, Mr Cruz stabbed him in the back. In issue 9, Pavel woke up and sat up, grabbing Mr Cruz's leg. This gave Kaz time to call her dogs onto him to protect them. When he ran off and Lara followed, Kaz took Pavel to a hospital. When Lara is resting at Varvara's home, Lara asked about the toys that are on the shelf. Varvara explained that when everyone evacuated Pripyat, Pavel found the other children’s' toys, mended them and painted them for just in case they returned. After the Chernobyl Disaster, Varvara, his mother, refused to leave their home with her children as she knew they would never be able to return. The government then paid the three brothers to work on the reactor, to patch up the cracks and to keep it safe. In return, they get medicines. |
Kirill
(? - 2014) Seen in issues #7, #8, #9 and #10. He was one of the three men in radiation suits who were watching Lara from the rooftop in Pripyat. The other two were Pavel and Viktor. After being threatened by Mr Cruz, who later ran off into the woods, Lara decided to follow. When she was told that the woods still had high-level radiation, Viktor and Kirill offered to go with her. They later found Lara after she had passed out, and took her back to their home. Kaz Weiss
Kaz was once a member of Trinity and is the sister of Alex Weiss. In 2011, Kaz married Lucya, the sister of Viktor, Pavel and Kirill. In issue #8 Kaz and her brothers-in-law are confronted by Mr Cruz. He threatened to kill them all. When a injured Pavel sat up and grabbed his leg, Kaz set her three dogs Cerberus, Heimdall and Alberich onto him. He ran off into the woods and Lara followed. He wanted to interrogate both Lara and Kaz but when a fight broke out; Mr Cruz was knocked to the ground by Lara. He grabbed hold of Kaz's boot and she kicked him onto the live train tracks, killing him. |
Baddies:
Mr Cruz
(? - 2014) First shown in the comics in issue #7 when he was following a tourist group. When he saw Lara Croft, he left the group to follow her. In issue #8, he stabbed Pavel, making himself known to Lara, Kaz and her brothers-in-law. It was Mr Cruz who killed Lucya, Kaz's wife. He explained to her that she "squealed" and that he had put both of her stockings in her mouth and "still she was a siren". He threatened to kill them all and managed to convince Lara to put down her rifle, when Pavel sat up and grabbed his leg. Kaz set her dogs on him and after fighting them off, he ran into the woods, where radiation levels were still high. Lara ran after him and they fought. He managed to stab Lara in the shoulder. She had managed to injure him but when she jumped to grab her fallen rifle; she fired badly aimed shots at him before she passed out. Mr Cruz took this chance to run. He later reappeared with mercenaries and a helicopter after finding where Lara was hiding. He told the pilot to fire a rocket at the house, leaving it barely standing. He ordered the pilot twice more to fire rockets at the building, even threatening him with the lives of his family. When Lara wore one of the soldier's uniforms as a disguise, she shot at the helicopter, causing it to explode. Mr Cruz however didn't die in the explosion, and in issue 11, he was in St Petersburg Health and Medicentre, in the decontamination ward. A man from Trinity, called Auger Ramile, visited him. Mr Cruz believed that he was there to kill him for "his failure", but Ramile told him that he was there to finish the job. It is here that Mr Cruz told him about Lara and that he should "make her suffer". When he had a call from Ramile, saying that he hadn't killed her yet but that there was a development, Mr Cruz left the hospital, saying that he wanted to make her suffer. Mr Cruz arrived in London with two thugs, and informed them of their mission. He admitted that he was afraid of Lara Croft as she seemed to not be afraid of anything. He later sent her some flowers to reach her at the Golden Lion Theatre, telling her that he had gotten Kaz and wanted Lara to meet them in the Piccadilly tube track going south-west, and that she should come alone. When she arrived, he told her that he should thank her as she made him realise that he was immortal and that he wanted to interrogate the two women. Auger Ramile showed his presence and Lara swung a crowbar across the back of Mr Cruz's head, knocking him to the ground. He grabbed hold of Kaz's boot but she kicked him onto the train tracks. He was electrocuted to death. |

He visited Mr Cruz at the St Petersburg Health and Medicentre, where he was informed about Lara Croft and that Cruz wanted her to suffer. He headed out to find her and watched her tackle two thugs who had tried to steal the bags from her and her fellow cast member, Andrea. He then had a call from Dr Patel at a clinic, telling him that his prognosis was worse than they had thought; his cancer was aggressive. He overheard the thugs talking about taking revenge, and he approached them to tell them that he won't allow them to take it. He fought them, in the end killing one of them. He followed her to the Piccadilly underground tube track and watched as the scene unfolded. When the situation turned messy, he shot Reginald, one of the two thugs Cruz had brought with him, and told Mr Cruz to step away from her. As he said that, Lara swung a crowbar across Mr Cruz's head. After Kaz had kicked him onto the tracks, Auger had the chance to talk to Lara. He tried to get her to join him and become his protégé. When she refused, he knew he couldn't persuade her, and when he saw an oncoming train speeding closer, he decided not to move. He was killed instantly. |
Andrea
Seen in issue #11. Andrea was to play the lead role in Jonah Maiava's rendition of 'Pride and Prejudice', however when Lara Croft got her words wrong in rehearsals, she decided to quit. Jonah told Lara to try and convince her to stay as there was only two days left until the show opened. Lara took her to 'The Jolly Nag's Head' where she was meeting Samantha Nishimura and Kaz Weiss. The conversation had gotten around to Jonah and his interest in theatre. Andrea showed her attraction towards him, saying that he was cute but she said that she already had a boyfriend. She decided to go and see him and Lara went with her to take her to the tube. Just after they left the pub, they were approached by two thugs, who were inside the pub themselves, asking for their bags. Lara refused to hand them over and fought them. Andrea was shocked and told her that from what she had seen, she had scared her more than the thugs did. She told her to tell Jonah that she is out of the play. |
