Lara grew up in Maastricht but at the age of 19, she moved to Amsterdam and worked in one of the biggest diamond stores in Holland. It was here that she was approached by a modelling agency. Her agent advised her to go to Paris or Milan, but she chose to following her heart and go to London in the UK. Here, she signed up to Nev's Models. She has done advertising for TV, catalogues, clothing and various products. In 1999, she was asked to represent Lara Croft and she jumped at the chance. Being Croft has given Lara the chance to travel to many countries such as Europe, USA, Middle East, Far East and South Africa. Her hobbies include yoga, sleeping, travel and movies. ​
