Enemies
Mars
We've named him Mars as he holds the Mars Symbol. This battle can be daunting for a first time player but you need to combine the Lasersight with the Revolver and shoot his eyes out. But don't stand out in the open because if he gets a lock on you, he will shoot dangerous laserbeams at you and really cut down Lara's health. FIRST APPEARANCE: Trajan's Market |
Roman Soldier Statue
There are two variants of the Roman statue; the first one you'll meet carries a sword which he'll use to swipe at Lara in the small, closed-in room if she is close enough. He can also shoot dangerous energy bolts from the sword, which are semi-tracking. Decide which gun you want to use and keep jumping side to side until he gets close and then run pass him to start attacking again. The second statue carries a hammer which he charges with energy and then slams on the ground; if Lara is close enough to the reverberations, she can be hurt. Just keep back, there is enough space to do this in the Colosseum. You will be able to see the damage caused to both statues as they start to lose armour and limbs. Another tip: don't stand near them when they die as this will cause considerable damage. FIRST APPEARANCE: Trajan's Market (Sword Statue) / The Colosseum (Hammer Statue) |
Gate Guardian
Also known as Hydras in the TR Wad, these beauties remain as stone gargoyles in the first Rome level but at the end of the level 'Trajan's Markets', they come alive, standing free from their original seating place. It's a long battle regardless of what weapon you use, but practise with switching targets because you'll cause more damage if you shoot the one who has a fireball in its mouth. They begin to change colour, turning a darker stone colour the more damage you cause, so try and focus on clearing one at a time to make the battle easier. FIRST APPEARANCE: Streets of Rome |
Chef
The only way to kill this enemy - and you really do have to - is use walk up behind him and use the Crowbar on him. You have picked up the crowbar, right? Don't worry if you haven't; to reset him, climb back into the ventilation shaft and crawl on a little bit before turning back. He seems to forget about the intrusion and goes back to chopping vegetables. FIRST APPEARANCE: The Submarine |
Maze Beast
Don't stand around too long, keep close to the balls of light to avoid meeting this creature. The camera in this section doesn't really give the player a chance to see this creature but it's there. It attacks much like Ammit in 'Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation', looks like her too. FIRST APPEARANCE: Labyrinth |
Verdilet
Once a man called Vladimir Kaleta, poor Verdilet is now trapped in Ireland by running water. As a player, we don't fight against him; that's all left to in-game cutscenes. But he was a demon and he was prepared to kill a sixteen years old girl and use a priest as leverage against her, so he's still a bad guy. FIRST APPEARANCE: Old Mill |
Sea Hag
Another enemy that the player doesn't have to kill, gosh, there are many of those. Lara needs to collect a silver coin, not just any coin, but the Sea Hag's favourite coin, to bait her into a crate. Then, she can let the Imps take care of her. Huh, they did have a use after all. FIRST APPEARANCE: Old Mill |
VCI Guard
The VCI levels have the most deadly of enemies and can end a no medipack challenge run if you are in to doing those. Add to that fact that for some of the levels, Lara has to be unarmed. These guards are quite a common sight in the level '13th Floor', so luckily Lara is armed. Zoom and aim to shoot them in the face as it's more ammo-efficient. But a tip: where there is a guard, just walk. Where there is a sleeping guard... Well, that's up to you. FIRST APPEARANCE: 13th Floor |
VCI Armoured Guard
Now Lara is almost always armed when she has to meet these guys. Aim with the HK gun and shoot them in the face. One good shot should be enough. Put the ammo type to HK Sniper Mode to conserve bullets in the long run. They can shoot dangerous laser beams from their futuristic guns, but don't panic. FIRST APPEARANCE: 13th Floor |
Cyborg
Bionic humans or just robots built to look like humans? Not sure but these cannot be killed by gunfire alone, there are other criteria to complete. One will need to be standing in water when Lara shoots it, because electricity and water don't mix. The other will need to be trapped in a room and then have Lara flood it with poisonous gas for it to die. These aren't spoilers; these are very helpful tips. FIRST APPEARANCE: Red Alert! |
