Story
She wakes at 6am in an old train carriage. After reading Von Croy’s notebook, she knows that she needs to find Louis Bouchard. After asking around, she will come across either Pierre or Bernard who will tell Lara where Bouchard is in a trade for a trinket box from Bouchard’s nightclub, Le Serpent Rouge. If Lara gives the trinket box to Bernard, he will send Lara to Bouchard’s doorman with a password and this will gain her access to Bouchard’s hideout. If Lara gives the trinket box to Pierre, she will gain access to Bouchard’s hideout through St Aicard’s Graveyard.
Bouchard tells Lara about Von Croy’s interest in the Louvre and the items that he wanted but tells Lara that she needs to see Daniel Rennes, someone who would be able to help provide information and hardware but she would need to deliver some items - fake passports. Lara agrees and heads to Rennes’ Pawnshop, only to find him dead and the building rigged with a bomb. She collects the information and hardware and just about escapes the explosion. On the opposite side of the River Seine is a man, watching her and waiting. Meanwhile, a secret cult, the Cabal are meeting and talking about their recent success over collecting the next Obscura engraving. Lara goes through the Louvre drains to gain access into the Louvre. From there, she enters a ventilation shaft and breaks entry into Carvier’s office. She collects important information and a key card to the Archaeological Digs, using her newfound information to crack a code to the recently uncovered mysterious mechanical lock and enters the door in the ground. After gaining access in to the Hall of Seasons via the Tomb of Ancients, Lara solves the four elemental puzzle rooms and collects four gemstones: Fire Crystal, Earth Crystal, Water Crystal and Air Crystal, which in turn, unlocked the door to the engine room. Lara starts up the engine and certain tiles on the floor in the room above rises up and down. She climbs them and makes her way into a hidden room in the top of the chamber. An Obscura painting is here, protected by the spirit of Brother Obscura. She grabs the item whilst he is stunned and escapes through the now flooded Tomb of Ancients. Back out in the Louvre, Eckhardt’s personal mercenary, Marten Gunderson has dispatched his men to find and kill Lara. She evades them but is caught off guard by the mysterious figure from by the River Seine. He disarms her and steals the Obscura painting before he escapes. Lara gives chase and finally catches up with him only to see that he has been knocked out. She approaches him but is knocked unconscious also.
Lara works her way through the loading bay and watches as Gunderson hands over a snooping Luddick to Eckhardt. He is killed, but from watching, Lara discovers that Eckhardt is powerful. She reaches a control room and switches off the security to a section of the Strahov, unknowingly releasing the Proto Nephilim. She enters the Bio Research facility and overhears a conversation between Eckhardt and Boaz; how due to Lara turning off the power and thus releasing the Proto Nephilim, Kristina Boaz is blamed for not killing the creature, which she was unable to do as she needed a Periapt Shard. Eckhardt feeds her to a mutant plant, sending off Gunderson to fix the issue. Lara continues on but is trapped in an air lock by her mysterious stalker. He tells her that he has to undo the damage that she has caused. Kurtis enters the Sanitarium and discovers the Proto Nephilim nearby. He chases it throughout the Sanitarium and into the Maximum Containment Area, where the two fight. Kurtis kills it using his Periapt Shard, turns the power back on and then returns to Lara. She disarms him and the two finally exchange names and their business. They agree to work together - Kurtis to find the third and final shard and Lara to find the final Obscura Painting. They go their separate ways.
Lara chases after Eckhardt through his lab and confront him as he combines the five Obscura engravings to become the Sanglyph. The Sanglyph is a powerful weapon that can be used to revive the Nephilim creature which is suspended in the centre of the room. Lara is determined to stop him and the showdown begins. She outsmarts him and stabs him two times with the third and final stab coming from Joachim Karel. He admits to her that he was the leader of the Cabal because he was a Nephilim. He had killed Von Croy and many others but he offers her a chance to become immortal with him if she agrees to join him. She declines and he attacks her. She collects Eckhardt’s glove with the Sanglyph and climbs to the top of the tower, jumping over to the hanging Nephilim, destroying it with the Sanglyph and also killing Karel by the explosion. Lara returns to the large chamber to find Kurtis, only to find his Chirugai near a large pool of blood. It extracts its blades when she picks it up and tugs Lara to the darkness. She walks forward, disappearing from view. Kurtis’ fate is unknown.
