Merchandise : Timex

A brief history: Timex is a watch/ timepiece company and has been going for many, many years. In 2000, Timex and Eidos Interactive teamed up.

​The Timex brand and Grip Clip Watch featured in the FMV at the start of the VCI levels and the players could see the Timex Grip Clip watch in the inventory. Lara also appeared on the official Timex TMX website to introduce the Timex brand to the target audience of 14 - 20 year olds. There even was an online game where Lara defeated her enemies with the Timex Grip Clip watch.

In return, Eidos would have the game Tomb Raider Chronicles and the then upcoming movie advertised to a different market.

The product itself doesn’t feature anything Tomb Raider related, not even a TR logo on the item; it is in fact just the packaging that shows the link with the Tomb Raider franchise. The grip clip looks similar to other Timex grip clips, however this slight variation is referred to as the Tomb Raider Chronicles edition.

It comes in various colours, 11 in total, such light purple, yellow, orange, silver, dark blue, light blue to  name a few. It is water resistant up to 50 meters and is shock resistant.

​Personally, we think that they are brilliant little things, quite special in a TR collection and also quite useful.
